Thatcham Butchers was formed in 1985 by Graham Wilks, originating in a small retail shop in Thatcham, Berkshire. The quality of the fresh English meat ultimately led to an interest in the catering trade, which grew very quickly, necessitating an eventual move to the current premises in Arnhem Road, Newbury. This was achieved in 2004, when the purpose built plant was launched and the move to service the Catering industry was completed.

Recently, fuelled by demand, Thatcham have branched into securing more local products, we have moved into our bespoke suppliers and have subsequently launched our own "Torre Meadow" Beef, sourced from middle England, selected from specific animals, but based around Aberdeen Angus and Hereford cattle and crosses. The product is delivered fresh to our premises, where it is then further hung, on the bone, and dry-aged in our ageing facility for typically 21 and maximum 28 days.

This ensures the selected product is cut at the optimum time, dry-aged, and tender. Customers have often said this is the "best beef they have ever tasted."

The beef is supported by a full range of local butchery products, including Lamb, Pork, Poultry, Veal, Sausages, Burgers and Game which are all available on these pages. All of our meats are carefully handled and hand-cut-as you will see when ordering versus any of the usual Supermarket offerings.

We are working with Country’s top chefs on a daily basis, and our cutting, packing, presentation and delivery of this product is well known. Our trade has been increased largely by word of mouth within the industry, visit our links to see where you can dine from pubs to fine dining.
